Your East Bay Doulas are on a break.
Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of training do you have?
Angela is a DONA certified birth doula and Kathryn has her doula certificate through Heart and Hands Midwifery Intensives. We have both taken the Spinning Babies course with the amazing Gail Tully as well as many advanced doula trainings with Harmony Doula Training.
What is your doula style?
I’d say we have a pretty eclectic approach. We’ve taken a variety of trainings and pull form all of them to support you in ways that feel good to you! We hope to help you make decisions based on good information but also your own intuition. We understand that everyone comes to birth with their own beliefs and lived experiences. We hope to help you have a positive birth experience.
Do you have back up?
We work in a team so that one of us is always on call for you. You get to know both of us during your pregnancy and then one of us attends to you in labor. If we should ever both be attending a birth at the same time, or need another layer of support, we do have other doulas we can reach out to. You would not be without support.
How do you work with partners?
We want partners to be as active as their comfort level allows. If they want to take a hands on approach, we take a step back and take on a more informative role. If they would rather be more hands off, we step in with some massage or counter pressure. We also make sure that partners are eating, staying hydrated and using the restroom when needed. Often times partners neglect themselves to care for their laboring partner, we’re here to make sure no one is neglected!
